A result in Clarify, is always an object. This is different from the JSON RPC 2.0 specification, that allow any type in the result.
The exact content of a result is determined by the method that is called. We consider adding fields to objects a backwards-compatible change, meaning newer versions of the API may include additional result properties. Clients that do not use API selection headers, must be able to handle that there are unknown parameters in a result object.
